What is "The Villages"?
We consider "The Villages" a premier active adult community with a unique lifestyle. This large golf cart accessible community provides fun, entertainment, great social atmosphere, many clubs and functions, sports of all kinds, restaurants, shopping, health facilities and more.
Entertainment:
Entertainment is provided nightly on the 2 Town Squares where you can relax and listen to the music or dance under the stars. Monday is Fiesta and Thursday is Texas Thursday, and on both nights, local vendors display their wares around the square. Walk through the shops, eat at the local restaurants, enjoy the music, go to a movie at the Rialto Theater and Old Mill Theater or just stroll and enjoy the fresh Florida air. The Lake Sumter Town Square offers great dinning on the water and boat rides on Lake Sumter.
Golf:
No matter what your preference, a challengeing 18 hole championship course or a 9 hole executive course that is free to play for life, you can enjoy your game the way you like it. There are 9 championship courses offering 225 holes with one course designed by Arnold Palmer and one by Nancy Lopez. The 24 executive courses offer 216 holes of golf that offer different levels of challenge.

Bowling:
Bowling has proved to be one of the more popular sports in The Villages and there are currently a total of 64 lanes of bowling housed in 2 modern buildings with a restaurant attached. The Villages has actively brought professional bowling tournaments to The Villages. You may have watched the roll offs of one of the professional tournatment held on specially constructed outdoor alleys on the town square. Plenty of leagues, plenty of lanes and plenty of fun, no matter what your skill level.
Softball:
If you have a driving desire to return to the softball diamond, this is where you belong. Various leagues exist for play at the three softball facilities located in The villages. You just may run into a member of your former team and renew an old acqaintance.
Swimming:
Enjoy one of the many neighborhood pools or exercise in one of the fitness pools, all located conveniently in the neighborhood recreation areas. There are adult pools and there are family pools to make sure that you are afforded the type of swimming experience you like to enjoy along with premium membership country club pools.
Tennis & Pickle Ball:
There are many tennis courts located throughout The Villages recreation areas. In addition, you will find premium courts at the tennis center located at the Glenview Country Club area. These premium courts host many leagues and play based on ranked ability. Pickle Ball is one of the more popular sports in The Villages. Many courts are located in the recreation areas with organized leagues and play available. Pickle Ball is played with paddles and wiffle balls on courts much shorter than tennis courts.
Medical Facilities:
The Lady Lake area offers the greatest of medical sources you can imagine. Serving the local community is The Villages Hospital, along with the Leesburg Regional Medical Center and Monroe Regional Hospital in Ocala. Emergency responce time in The Villages is said to be 3 minutes or less on average. In addition to hospitals, all types of medical services exist that are not that far from your doorstep.

There are many houses of worship in and adjacent to the community including the All Faiths Chapel, Church on The Square (non-denominational), and many others representing various beliefs.
The Villages News:
VNN is a 24 hour closed circuit community television channel, broadcasting information and news exclusively to Village residents through the Cable TV system. It is supplemented by The Daily Sun newspaper with 7 days per week coverage.
Clubs:
Each of the communities in the area offers a tremendous variety to recreational facilities. In The Villages, these facitilities are abundant, as are the many social clubs offering weekly and monthly meetings. If you like to do it, there is probably a club of those who also like that activity. If there isn't one, just say you want to form one and watch your friends and neighbors with those same interests join. Whatever you want to do, just do it because it is all here and waiting for you.
